Emily M. Matasar
Emily Matasar has experience in both legal and policy work. She came to BEH in 2020 from the Governor’s General Counsel Office, where she worked on issues related to public records, transparency, government ethics, extradition, clemency, and judicial appointments. She also shepherded several bills through the Oregon Legislature over multiple legislative sessions, working closely with agency staff, stakeholders, and legislators. Before that, Emily clerked in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon for the Honorable Anna J. Brown and Marco A. Hernández.
While Emily works on a wide range of municipal law issues, she specializes in the areas of public records, public meetings, government ethics, labor and employment, constitutional law, and litigation.
Emily is a native Oregonian. She hates to exercise but loves to play sports, including soccer, skiing, tennis, biking, and anything on the water. She also enjoys spending time with her family and her tiny rambunctious dog.
