Urban Renewal & Economic Development
BEH is one of very few firms actively practicing and experienced in urban renewal law. We currently serve as general counsel to several urban renewal agencies on a variety of topics, including public/private partnerships, land acquisition and disposition, and grant funding programs. We have a keen understanding of the politics that inform urban renewal, particularly the establishment of new urban renewal areas in the wake of legislative changes granting other taxing authorities more input into the process. We have worked with clients on numerous amendments to urban renewal plans and regularly advise urban renewal agencies on strategic ways to accomplish their goals.
Our work in economic development goes well beyond just urban renewal. We often work with clients on business recruitment and retention issues including establishing and administering enterprise zones, entering into strategic investment program agreements, and negotiating non-disclosure agreements.
